Plastic waste is first checked for contaminants when it arrives at the recycling facility. This process removes impurities or foreign matter that could interfere with the recycling process. In the above case, the aim is to separate aluminum foil and a variety of aluminum parts from the plastic fraction.

The IFE Eddy Current Separator is ideally suited for this type of application. The challenge is due to the low weight of the aluminum foil. With the particularly strong permanent magnetic field of the IFE Eddy Current Separator and the high rotational speed of the magnet rotor, the unit achieves excellent separating results even when very light, coated films have to be seperated.
To protect the eddy current separator from the iron parts also found in the waste stream, an IFE Overband Separator will be shipped and positioned in front of the eddy current separator.



Some facts about PET/PP recycling:
Recycled PET/PP materials are used as source materials in a wide range of products such as polyester fibers in the textile industry, plastic components in the automotive industry, or belts, films and bottles in the packaging sector. They are mainly compressed into balls and fed into a recycling unit. The balls are melted, and the impurities are removed.
This is followed by a multi-step crushing process to make regrind and by several rinsing, cleaning and separating processes. The plastic grist is dried, and can now be used in the plastics sector as a substitute for new material.
