New technologies, materials and products often make recycling plant operators subject to changing requirements within a short time. A Look back - Küttner Schwingtechnik exhibiting

For more than 70 years, Küttner has been constructing foundry plant conveyor systems using vibration machines from a variety of manufacturers. In recent years, Küttner and IFE have built and installed a new generation of electronically adjustable shake-out conveyors, casting coolers and other specialized machines.

As a result of this successful collaboration, the two companies founded KÜTTNER SCHWINGTECHNIK, a new organization with offices in Essen and Waidhofen an der Ybbs. The operations in Waidhofen can rely on an existing infrastructure for the design and manufacture of foundry machines and their servicing.

At the 61st Austrian casting exhibition in Gurten and also at METEV in Verona, Küttner Schwingtechnik presented itself for the first time in the new constellation. Andreas Rössler and Robert Fuchs were there as representatives and as future contacts.

Domestic waste preparation and processing

In order to enable efficient screening in the case of difficult-to-screen feedstocks, the use of special screening machines is an ecologically sensible variant (vivis.de). The challenge of screening is, on the one hand, that very fine material is difficult to separate (separation cut in this case 60 mm) and, on the other hand, that the material has an increased moisture due to the organic fraction. Thus, the risk of adhesion to the Screen panels must also be prevented.
The high fraction of plastic films and wires can also lead to clogging of the screen panels.
High throughput and effective self-cleaning of the screen panels as well as corresponding dynamics in the screen decks are essential to counteract the clogging.

The IFE waste screen was used here (conveying capacity here approx. 63 m³/h, bulk weight approx. 0.3 t/m³). Through the parameters
- very high working moment
- high amplitude
- and high acceleration,
it achieves the prerequisites described above for a successful separation of the materials and their subsequent processing. The easy accessibility also ensures minimal maintenance expenses and short downtimes.

Our state-of-the-art technology from the magnetic technology sector is being used by a well-known Austrian scrap recycling company. Two INPx STRATOS systems will ensure the separation of the smallest non-ferrous metal parts from the waste stream.

Interesting facts about ferrous and non-ferrous metal Separation:
The non-ferrous metal scrap (aluminum, copper, brass and other non-ferrous metals) present in the residual waste represents a very high potential for reutilization, but on the other hand it interferes with the preparation process and can cause high wear on the various machines.
In order to sort the non-ferrous metal scrap, eddy current separators are used in MBA systems. In the separation unit, a magnetic field induces an electrical eddy current in the non-metallic particles, which increases proportionally with the conductivity of the material. As a result, forces act on the metal particles that are in the magnetic field, and this spins the particles in the conveyor belt direction. Non-conductors fall from the belt, since the force does not act on them, while ferromagnetic materials adhere to the belt (waste management Styria - abfallwirtschaft.steiermark).

Pending retirements

After 24 years of service at IFE in our sales department, Gerhard Mairhofer (62) will be retiring at the end of September. Angelika Bayer will be taking over for him in the Scandinavian countries. She has a technical construction background and extensive machine knowledge and skills. Lukas Wagner will be supporting Switzerland and France.
Franz Müller, who was active as a mechanic for 45 years, will also retire at the end of September.
Rudolf Resch, a long-term employee (44 years) in production, will also be retiring at the end of October.

We would like to thank all of you for the good cooperation and wish you a successful start to your retirement. We are glad for the gentlemen who, after a long professional career, will now be entering a phase of life in which they will have more time for themselves, their families and their passions.

Outlook

More than 11,000 visitors from over 60 countries and more than 500 exhibitors in 2016 - the RWM 2017 in Birmingham (GB) is again a 'must-attend' event and date for IFE.
