To meet the challenge of separating stainless steel, IFE has developed a magnetic drum with an exceptionally high field strength. It can also be directly combined with other magnetic separators. Thus, even this weakly magnetizable and particularly "noble" steel can be recovered.
Stainless steel is a valuable type of steel that is used in countless areas and products and as a result, can be found in various waste streams and types. With the help of magnetic technology, the "noble steel" can be recovered. However, most stainless steel grades have very low magnetizability. To address this challenge, IFE has developed the magnetic drum type KHP-Z with an exceptionally high field strength.
It is used to separate low-magnetizable substances (e.g. stainless steel) from non-magnetizable materials. Normal steel has to be extracted in a preceding step as the extremely powerful magnet would not release it. The KHP-Z, as shown in the image, can be directly combined with other magnetic separators or placed downstream of them. Proven and well-known machines from IFE's extensive product portfolio are also available for this purpose.
Technical specifications
Depending on the design, the field strength on the drum surface over the entire width ranges from 850 to 1 000 mT (≙ 10 000 Gauss). The machine has a drum diameter of 500 mm and is available in width options of 650 mm, 1 000 mm and 1 500 mm. Special configurations are available upon request.
Flexibility in configuration
The IFE-KHP-Z can be used in various configurations:
- As a standalone unit,
- with a pre-installed IFE vibrating feeder
- or in a machine network as an IFE separation unit. The separation unit includes a vibrating feeder, a magnetic drum (with barium ferrite permanent magnets), a high-intensity magnetic drum and an eddy current separator. Together, these components enable efficient separation based on magnetic and electrical properties.
Material handling technology from a single source
By combining vibro conveyor technology, screening technology and magnetic technology, IFE offers efficient overall solutions for the processing of bulk materials. They enable higher yield and reduce the wear of downstream aggregates. The result is improved cost-effectiveness for IFE's customers.
