with conveying, screening and magnetic technology from IFE
Glass recycling makes a relevant contribution to climate protection because waste glass requires far lower temperatures for melting and recycling than the processing of primary raw materials. This saves energy and leads to a reduction of harmful climate emissions. Moreover, if properly processed, old glass can be melted and reused for new products an infinite number of times. An appropriate processing of old glass is prerequisite for this. The robust product portfolio of IFE Material Handling is especially designed for the high wear requirements in this branch and has already proven its reliability in numerous glass recycling companies.
On the one hand, IFE equipment is used to separate metallic components in order to market them as ferromagnetic fractions and as non-ferrous mix. On the other hand, IFE machines are used to increase the quality of the glass fraction before it is handed over to optical sorting machines.
Which components from the IFE vibrating and magnetic technology portfolio will come into use (partly batch wise) depends on the input quality of the waste glass.
1. Tramp iron removal
Tramp iron parts are removed by the IFE overband magnetic separator in order to protect downstream units before and / or after shredding. After the shredding process is finished, permanent magnetic overband separators with neodymium-magnet material extract any remaining ferrous fines form the waste glass.
2. Screening and pre-separation
Screening is a further essential part of any processing plant. Depending on the grain size, an individual machine solution is defined in order to meet the respective requirements.
For the pre-separation of the overs (e.g. > 40 mm), the IFE scalper screen or the IFE waste screen with wear-resistant louver type panels represent the right option.

3. Fractionation
Further fractionation is then achieved by the IFE linear vibrating screen with special harp screen cloths.
4. Density separation
Subsequently, a precise preparation of the fine and medium-sized fractions (e.g. < 4 mm, 4 - 8 mm, 8 - 12 mm) is guaranteed by the IFE-SORT fine sorting system.

5. Non-ferrous metal separation
The coarse grain (e.g. > 0.8 mm or > 12 mm) of the screened fractions is then finally processed by an IFE eddy current separator in order to remove the remaining non-ferrous metals.
