Feed Hopper

Vibro Conveyor Technology

Reliable material feeding for continuous conveying processes

IFE feed hoppers are used for the uniform, controlled transfer of bulk materials from the hopper to downstream conveying or processing equipment. They provide a reliable, process-safe solution for preventing material blockages, compensating for throughput fluctuations, and ensuring a constant material flow.

For more than 70 years, IFE has been developing and manufacturing customized solutions for the bulk materials industry. Feed hoppers are individually designed and built to customer requirements in a wide range of sizes, designs, and for various conveyed materials.

Depending on the application and requirements, different drive concepts are used:

Electromagnetic Drive

  • Infinitely variable dosing from 0–100%

  • Constant conveying rate

  • Control via IFE thyristor control or regulating units

  • Particularly suitable for precise dosing applications

Unbalance Drive / Unbalance Exciter

  • Robust heavy-duty design

  • High conveying capacities

  • Suitable for coarse, heavy, or abrasive bulk materials

  • Proven for continuous industrial operation

IFE feed hoppers are not limited to standard sizes. Depending on requirements, they are available, among others, as:

  • Stationary or integrated solutions

  • With wear-resistant linings

  • For fine, coarse, or abrasive bulk materials

  • For various conveying capacities and installation conditions

The design of a feed hopper is crucial for the trouble-free operation of the entire conveying system. Numerous influencing factors are taken into account that significantly affect the material flow from the hopper into the conveying equipment.

Important design factors include, among others:

External Influences

  • e.g. storage and intermediate storage times, temperature conditions

Bulk Material

  • e.g. particle size, bulk density, moisture, material properties

Hopper

  • e.g. material pressure, wall inclinations, outlet geometry

Transition Areas

  • Gap dimensions between hopper and conveying equipment

Conveying Equipment

  • e.g. trough lining, amplitude (damping), frequency

Thanks to IFE’s many years of experience, each feed hopper is designed specifically for the process in order to reliably prevent bridging, segregation, or uneven material feeding.
